The Truth Shall Set You Free
People need the truth about what is going on in the real estate market and the financial markets now more than ever. It is demanded by the customer, and it should be in light of all the recent financial turmoil. Who can the customer trust for the facts? Where can they get the full story on the housing market?
On a national level it really isn’t clear who can be trusted; certainly not the media. In an article published by Chris Plummer of MarketWatch it was noted that the S&P Index Committee Chairman has “acknowledged his organization’s overall and metro-market [housing market] readings paint an incomplete picture.” The Index covers only 20 markets and does not recognize the fact that “78 percent of the 330 metropolitan regions that the NAR tracks reported price increases.”
And a writer with RealtyTimes recently shed light on the fact the founder of the Case-Shiller Index makes his money when people buy housing hedge funds, using data obtained through his company Macromarkets, LLC. So, of course the news is going to be negative. And the Associated Press hasn’t been much help either of late, reporting that home prices ‘plunged at their fastest rate ever’ also using this same bad information to add fuel to the national media fire.
The media has now admitted it is using flawed data and misleading indexes to report on the real estate market conditions. The facts concerning local market conditions are not only excluded from their reporting but also not included in the data. So the headlines are wrong and cannot be trusted. That is one simple fact.
So what is the reality with the housing markets and what information can customers trust? Is now a good time to buy? Based on the research that I have done the answer is undeniably YES, it is a great time to buy real estate and an even better time to buy land.
And it is our job as sellers, developers and marketers to spread this truth to our customers. Buy land now!
